Some of you have been suspecting this for a while now so I’m excited to finally tell you the secret is out…yes we’re bringing in another and Penny Sue is getting the title of “big sister”--one I think she’s going to wear quite well!
_
And here’s maybe the biggest surprise out of all of this right now…he or she will be arriving in just a little over a month!

We always wait a bit before we post anything online about our growing family. Mostly because we like to tell our closest people in person before they see it on the internet. This pregnancy took a bit longer to let everyone know about. Not for any particular reason other than we wanted to take our time, let it sink it and enjoy it just being me and Shane who knew for a little.
_
We also knew that the kids would be the first ones we would tell the news to and once they heard there would be no stopping them from telling anyone they’d come into contact with. Seriously, I think my twins told every person at Target we walked by the following week. To say they are excited is an understatement. Which also might be my favorite thing of all.
_
They all had been making comments for a while on how much they wanted another baby (or 10) in the family. I assured them I wouldn't make it to another 10, but kept them guessing if we’d have another or not. The day we told them will be one of my most cherished memories as a mama. I didn’t know they could feel so deeply and be so overcome with tears of joy at the ages of 7 & 8, but they sure did. They were almost speechless and tears just streamed down their face as they hugged us both tightly and said “I can’t believe it”. I can’t imagine how much more joyful it will be the day they get to hold this new little one.

It seems like a funny thing to say out loud, but one thing that has been interesting to me is this sense that I’ve always felt like there was room for one more. Even when I would count all 6 of them when we’re out and about, I'd still feel like I’m missing one even though I would count endlessly that no one is missing.
_
I never knew before having kids if 7 or 6 or even 3 is how many I’d want to have, but the more we had the more I kept feeling like another could fit right in. I joke that I get worried that this feeling will never go away, but somehow this pregnancy has almost felt like this little one will be the one that makes our family complete.
_
Perhaps, one of the reasons we keep having kids is just to watch them welcome their new brother or sister each time and see how their relationships grow over the years. The memories they’re making and that they’ll have together when they're older are already ones I’m forever grateful for. I didn’t expect to love that part of it so much before becoming a mama.

One thing that we’ve kept as a sort of family tradition with each pregnancy is waiting to find out the gender until the baby is born. I’m a natural lover of surprises so that element of it is one reason why, but since we hadn’t found out with any of them before it seems fitting to keep the tradition alive.
It’s been so fun to hear all the votes from the kids as to what they think or hope it will be…
Penny (our 2 year old) keeps saying “is a boy and girl”.
We’ve got 3 votes with the oldest girls for it being a boy.
Sage (our 4th daughter) says she wants it to be a girl but thinks it’s a boy.
And Dash has told me repeatedly that if it’s a girl he’s not going to play with her. He’ll only accept a boy! Although he’s got the best big brother heart so I’m sure that will change if he happens to meet another baby sister.
We will shortly find out in the coming weeks and I’m excited to have you along for the ride of our big family life. I don’t take a second for granted that I get to be a mama, let alone a mama to this many amazing kiddos. Sure I’m exhausted to no end, but I honestly wouldn’t trade this privilege for the world!
Tell me in the comments below what you think we’ll be adding into the mix… A boy or girl?
Ps. If you’re on the hunt for some new baby items I’ll create a post of some of my most loved ones in the following weeks. Here’s a few from my shop that I’ve made as well for any new mama in your life.
