Behind the Collection | Spring ‘21 Birth Flowers
The day of landing that dream job.
The season of moving into a new home.
Graduating from school or entering a new one.
The launch of a new business.
The month that new life was brought into the world.
The day a little one was adopted into a family.
The birth of a marriage.
The remembrance of a loved one.
The moment life changed for the better.
Moments like these are the ones that change our stories. The ones that shape us and move us into places that hold deep and meaningful things.
Like the hope and beauty a new flower brings, this collection was created to give life to the sacred moments that are uniquely part of your story. So they may live in the place you dwell and hold space for these moments to be remembered, celebrated, and cherished for many years to come.
I created two versions of each month’s flower: ‘stems’ & ‘blooms’. I wanted to give a different feel for each flower as I thought about how they would be displayed. ‘Stems’ gives a softer, dainty feel with the added hand lettered month at the bottom of each one. ‘Blooms’ fills the page and is layered on top of a vintage paper texture. I wanted the feel of blooms to be as if it was still growing, still moving, still in process. You’ll find sketch lines and watercolor marks as if the painting is still being made. I think that just as the significant moments in our stories allow us to grow and change, I wanted to give that same feeling to these paintings as well.
The August Blooms framed canvas hangs in our bedroom surrounded by photos and notes that tell our story. I created this gallery wall around this piece and I just love how much it adds to our tiny bedroom and holds such meaning.
Along with these paintings I added a new desk planner for the year with sketches of each flower throughout the year. I’ve loved having a planner like this I can easily jot things down on. And the blank space for filling in the date manually makes me feel a little less guilty if I missed a week planning it out :)
To give you more inspiration, I’ve also created a lookbook here for you to see the full collection in real life and get inspired by how these pieces might fit in your home.
I hope as you browse through, you find something that speaks life to your story and allows you to hold space for the significant moments that are a part of it.
