4 Tips | Making a Fall Snack Board Pretty
This time of year always brings so much excitement for me. The start of traditions, cooler weather, snuggly jammies, and all the cozy feelings. Even though the weather here in Phoenix didn't cool off and give us chills until recently, it didn't stop us from trying to bring a little bit of fall feelings inside while we were waiting for those colder days.
To break in the season we decided to have a movie night in our new fall jammies from Burts Bees, which the kids are still loving year after year. As a little surprise for them I put together a snack board they could enjoy while watching. We brought out all the snacks and created this together before we cozied up on the couch.
This was so simple and fun to do with them that it made me want to put together a themed snack board for every season, because, why not, right?!
Here's a few tips on how we made ours and how to give it that extra special touch.
Here's a few tips on how we made ours and how to give it that extra special touch.
Ideas for snacks:
Salty: We used pretzel sticks and home-made popcorn, which made an extra fun activity while we put it all together.
Sweet: So I might've gone overboard on the cookies here, but I just couldn't resist. We used my favorite Pirouette vanilla wafers (dip them in hot chocolate or coffee and you'll thank me later), Milano milk chocolate cookies, And when I found carrot cake Oreos at the store it seemed like it was just mean to be a part of this ensemble!
Healthy: I sprinkled around almonds, raisins, and cut up apples to added color to the board... and to balance out all the cookies, ya know ;)
Tips for putting the board together:
1. Layering everything in a way that's pretty to look at makes eating it even more fun! Think about how you can showcase one of the treats in an eye catching way, like stacking oreos on top of a mini cake stand or cutting up fruit in a unique shape.
2. Add in cute cups with a pop of color or patterns for the kids to use and fill up with their snacks! Having something to hold like this always makes it more festive and fun for them (and for adults too)!
3. Choose a neutral color like white, black, or clear for the dish ware your snack will be assorted on. This helps everything look cohesive and lets the food stand out and do the talking!
4. Bring in a small vase of fresh flowers or dried greenery (or a fake pumpkin) for an added bonus of beauty. Something like this can make an ordinary plate of snacks turn into something you just wanna keep staring at.
I hope this inspired you to create your own with your little ones for an afternoon activity, family movie night or for your next group gathering. If you decide to make one too, be sure to tag me on Instagram so I can see what you've created too!
