A Cheap and Easy Way to Add Personal, Unique Art to Your Home
(a hanging display of paintings my kids have created over the year's displayed in their bedroom)
I've been adding my kids all over our house for years. While it started out as just hanging them on the fridge, I started to look at their art as cherished pieces I wanted to display within the rest of our home's setting. Now, their art lives in almost every room in our house and has been displayed in a way that looks like it was meant to be there exactly for that space.
This idea has become one of my favorite ways to add beauty to our home throughout the seasons. It not only saves you money and time searching for that "perfect one" all over the internet, but also makes for a unique and meaningful piece of work that no on else in the world will own but you!

Here are some tips you can use get started:
TIP 1:
First, grab my list of art supplies I always use for kids here and use the tips inside to get set up and know what will be easy to use to start this project.
TIP 2:
Next, think about the room or rooms you want to display your kids artwork in. Is it hanging on a string in their room? Is it in framed and mounted on a gallery wall in your hall? Is it setting next to pictures on your mantle?
TIP 3:
Once you've thought about the room you want your kid's art to live in, think about the colors that are in that space. Let's say it's your living room...Is it neutrals with pops of color? Is it colorful and vibrant? Is it mostly lights and brights? From there give your kids the paints, colored pencils or crayons that will match within the decor of that room. This will help the art they make become a centerpiece of creativity without sticking out like an eye sore. I like to think of it like it's enhancing the room rather than taking away from it and being distracting.

Think of it like making a really good vanilla latte--- the coffee and the cream are like your living room's foundations (the furniture and the colors) and the vanilla flavoring is that small extra dose of yum that adds to the overall experience, like your kid's artwork. It fits right in and feels like it was meant to live there all along.

A few ways I've displayed art from my kids in our home:
-Framed in our bedroom next to other family pictures in our gallery wall
-Hanging in the girls room, clothes-pinned on twine as an "art space" for their wall
-On our mantle or entry way table for holiday seasons
-Taped up in my studio as inspiration for when I'm working
-A whole gallery wall in our hall way with framed pieces from each of our kids
I hope this helps spark some creative ideas for you and helps you see how it doesn't have to be a huge task to make beauty in your home you'll love and cherish and feel good about.
