Our twins turned 7 at the end of July and requested a party based on their favorite movie lately-- The Incredibles! I honestly don’t know why this is their favorite right now, but it’s been fun seeing a new side of them come out with loving all the superhero stuff.
__
When the idea first came up, I was a bit surprised. In the past it’s been princesses and mermaids and fairy themes for these two, but with the unexpected twist they gave me I kind of liked the challenge of coming up with something they’d love while also making it “pretty” and fun for them :)
I used this canvas drop cloth for table covering and backdrop, which I’ve been able to use over and over again for our parties. I used the neutral color of the canvas as the base of the whole color scheme and then chose just a couple colors to tie in the rest theme on top of it with these burgundy and and orangey rust color balloons.
__
I like to keep it simple when it comes to decorating. I used very minimal “superhero” things but still enough for it to tie everything together. I carved out the city scape from black foam board and pieced it together to sit up behind all the food. I found these perfect napkins to give just a hint of “superhero” to the mix and then made an illustration of the twins dressed as superheroes for their cake topper--which they said was their favorite part.
Having the black eye masks for kids was a fun touch and made for a simple “party favor” for them to take home too.
__
We came up with a handful of games to play based on the theme like “elasti-girl tug of war” , which was pretty entertaining! And since it’s summer in Phoenix, water is always included so the party was finished off with slip n slide and pool time.

I rounded up all the items here for you if you’re inspired to create your own superhero party!

I hope this inspires you or at least helps you realize that with just a few things and thinking a little differently, you can make just about any party theme cute, fun and appealing too!
